Ghostrunner developer One More Level is bringing their first-person expertise to the Soulslike genre with Valor Mortis, launching September 24, 2026 on PS5, Xbox Series S|X, and Steam. The game will be available day one on Xbox Game Pass, with a playable demo already live on Steam.

Set in a supernatural take on 19th-century Europe, players control William, a resurrected soldier of Napoleon’s Grande Armée who must wield both period weaponry and devastating supernatural powers. The Kraków-based studio has enlisted César Award-winning actor Vincent Cassel to voice Napoleon Bonaparte, whose disembodied voice guides William through plague-ravaged battlefields and corrupted European cities.

The game promises challenging, stamina-based combat that blends rapiers and flintlock pistols with William’s otherworldly abilities. Players will need to master parrying, dashing, and visceral finishing moves whilst exploring in a Metroidvania style, using William’s enhanced mobility to outmaneuver Napoleon’s plague-ridden Eternal Guard.

Valor Mortis features an original score co-composed by Arkadiusz Reikowski, known for his work on Silent Hill 2 Remake and The Medium, alongside in-house composer Oskar Bała. The game’s aesthetic focuses on theatrical lighting and mature themes as players uncover the horrifying consequences of Napoleon’s conquest.

A new gameplay trailer showcasing Napoleon’s first appearance and the relationship between emperor and soldier was revealed at the Xbox Games Showcase. Players can try the Steam demo now ahead of the September release.
