Empire of the Ants

Tower Five and Microids have unveiled their plans for Empire of the Ants in 2025, following the strategy game’s impressive debut on Xbox, where it currently holds an 80 Metascore. The roadmap promises substantial updates for both single-player and multiplayer experiences throughout the coming year.

Empire of the Ants

A Microscopic World of Grand Strategy

Based on Bernard Werber’s beloved literary saga, Empire of the Ants drops players into the heart of France’s Fontainebleau forest, where they command ant colony 103,683 through a 20-hour campaign. The game leverages Unreal Engine 5 to create a photorealistic microverse, transforming familiar woodland environments into vast territories ripe for conquest.

Strategic Depth Meets Accessibility

What sets this RTS apart is its thoughtful approach to difficulty scaling. Whilst newcomers to the genre will find carefully crafted tutorials to guide them through the basics, veterans can dive into more complex mechanics and increased challenge levels. The campaign allows players to choose their preferred playstyle, whether that’s focused on strategic combat or exploration-based tactical missions.

Cross-Platform Warfare

The multiplayer offering appears particularly robust, featuring ranked 1v1 matchmaking and three-player free-for-all battles. Most notably, the game supports cross-platform play across all console versions, uniting the entire player base for online skirmishes. Custom private lobbies are available for those wanting to hone their tactics against friends or AI opponents.

Looking Ahead

The development team at Tower Five has promised that 2025 will bring numerous optimisations and fresh content, with community feedback playing a crucial role in shaping future updates. Given the strong foundation already in place, Empire of the Ants seems positioned to build upon its early success with this sustained post-launch support.
