Death Elevator | Xbox

QUByte Interactive’s peculiar roguelike FPS Death Elevator is making its way to consoles, promising players a rather unorthodox vertical ascent through chaos and mystery. Already available on PC, the game is set to launch on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch on 28th November.

Death-Elevator

At its core, Death Elevator presents a compelling premise: players find themselves trapped in an ever-rising lift where each floor brings new challenges and increasingly difficult encounters. The game appears to lean heavily into its roguelike elements, with randomly generated weapons and unpredictable enemy patterns ensuring that no two runs are identical.

Death-Elevator

One of the more intriguing mechanics is the bullet-time system, which automatically triggers when players find themselves in sticky situations. This momentary slowdown could prove crucial for survival, particularly when surrounded by the game’s numerous adversaries.

Death-Elevator

Beyond the shooting and survival elements, Death Elevator seems to harbour narrative ambitions. The developers have woven an interpretative story throughout the experience, with players gradually piecing together the mysteries of their predicament as they ascend through the floors.

Death-Elevator

Whilst the concept of battling through procedurally generated levels isn’t new to the genre, the vertical progression and confined space of an elevator shaft certainly offers an interesting twist on the formula. We’ll soon see whether this unique setting provides enough variety to keep players coming back for more attempts at reaching the top.
