Moonlighter 2 Coming Xbox 2025

Shopkeeper by day, dungeon crawler by night – Will’s adventure continues in an exciting new dimension

Digital Sun’s action RPG sequel is set to expand on the beloved original with new mechanics, uncharted biomes, and a mysterious village to restore.

The life of a shopkeeper-adventurer is never dull, especially for Will, the protagonist of the Moonlighter series. After the success of the original game in 2019, Digital Sun and 11 bit studios have officially unveiled the sequel, Moonlighter 2: The Endless Vault, set to arrive on Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, and PC in 2025.

A new trailer accompanying the announcement gives us our first proper look at the game, which transports Will and his companions to the mysterious village of Tresna in a dimension far from home. There, players will once again balance the demanding dual life of shop management and dungeon delving that made the original such a hit with RPG fans.

Revitalising a New Home

Whilst the original game saw players rebuild their hometown of Rynoka, Moonlighter 2 challenges players to revitalise Tresna, a mysterious village in which Will finds himself stranded. The trailer suggests players will invest in local businesses, upgrade their equipment, and unlock new opportunities as they work to restore the village to its former glory – all whilst searching for a way home.

Expanded Adventure and Commerce

Digital Sun appears to be building significantly on the foundation laid by the first game. The sequel promises innovative new mechanics, an expanded arsenal of weapons and gear, and entirely new biomes filled with treasures and enemies. The risk-reward system that defined the original appears to remain intact – the deeper you venture, the greater the dangers and potential rewards.

The commercial side of the game has also received notable attention. Players will continue to transform their dungeon loot into profit, but with enhanced shopkeeping mechanics. The trailer showcases more elaborate shop customisation options and customer interactions, suggesting a deeper and more engaging commercial experience.

The Team Behind the Game

Moonlighter 2: The Endless Vault is being developed by Digital Sun, the Spanish studio that created the original game and its Between Dimensions DLC. The team has been busy since the first Moonlighter, having worked on other projects including Cataclismo. Publishing duties remain with 11 bit studios, known for their work on the Frostpunk series and This War of Mine.

While we don’t have a specific release date yet beyond the 2025 window, Xbox Series X|S owners looking for a unique blend of action RPG dungeon crawling and entrepreneurial simulation should definitely keep an eye on Moonlighter 2: The Endless Vault as more details emerge throughout the year.
