Spellcaster University

Red Art Games has announced that Spellcaster University, the enchanting wizard school management simulator that found success on PC, will be expanding its campus to consoles on May 2nd, 2025. Originally developed by French indie studio Sneaky Yak Studio, the game has been ported to consoles by Red Art Studios and will arrive on Xbox next month.

Build Your Magical Academy

Spellcaster University puts players in the role of a headmaster tasked with building and managing their very own wizard school in a vibrant heroic fantasy world. The game offers considerable freedom in how you develop your institution – whether you create a dark academy focused on necromancy and demonology or a nature-aligned university training druids and shamans.

The management simulation features an original deck-building mechanic to construct and expand your campus, with each type of magic having its own deck of cards. Players will need to recruit qualified teachers, manage student wellbeing, and enforce discipline when necessary. According to the announcement, your choices will have both short and long-term consequences as you develop your magical institution.

Console-Optimized Experience

The console version will include all content and updates from the PC version and has been completely reworked to support controller input. Xbox Series X and PlayStation 5 players can expect native 4K graphics, bringing the colourful magical world to life with enhanced visual fidelity.

The game won’t be without its challenges – players will need to defend their schools against orc tribe attacks while navigating the bureaucratic oversight of education authorities. The announcement also mentions the ability to shelter mythical creatures including dragons and pegasi within your school grounds.

Physical Editions for Collectors

Beyond the digital release, physical editions of Spellcaster University will be available for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, and PlayStation 4, with the Switch physical version arriving slightly later on May 23rd. Collectors may be particularly interested in the Deluxe Edition, which is exclusive to Red Art Games’ online store and limited to just 300 copies per platform. This premium version includes a wraparound box sleeve with alternate cover art, a poster, and a keychain.

As Spellcaster University prepares to open its doors to console wizards next month, it appears to offer a unique blend of management simulation and fantasy world-building that should appeal to fans of both genres.
