Aerosoft and Thera Bytes have announced that their post-apocalyptic base-building game Zombie Cure Lab is set to launch across PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S on 27th May 2025. This management simulator offers a refreshing twist on the zombie genre – instead of simply eliminating the undead, players will work to restore their humanity.
Building a Scientific Haven in the Apocalypse
Zombie Cure Lab presents a world overrun by zombies, where humanity has discovered an antidote that can partially reverse the zombification process. Players take on the role of a scientific outpost leader, tasked with establishing a functional laboratory in the wilderness to advance this critical research.
The gameplay loop involves gathering resources, constructing defences, and developing technologies aimed at capturing and treating the infected. Successfully cured zombies become “Humbies” – human-zombie hybrids who can join your workforce and help expand operations as you work toward developing a complete cure.
Management Challenges Beyond Survival
Beyond the typical survival elements found in zombie games, Zombie Cure Lab emphasizes management aspects that add layers of complexity to the experience. Players must balance energy systems, plan efficient production lines, and assign different worker types to day and night shifts.
Perhaps most interestingly, the game requires careful attention to the mood and well-being of your hybrid workforce. Neglect their needs, and your scientific team might find themselves on the menu. This workforce management element combines with nightly defence against zombie hordes to create a dual-focused gameplay challenge.
Extensive Research System
The game features an extensive technology tree with over 200 unlockable technologies to research. This progression system appears to be central to the narrative goal of finalizing a complete cure for the zombie plague, suggesting a potential end-game objective beyond mere survival.
With its unique premise that flips the typical zombie-killing formula on its head, Zombie Cure Lab looks to offer a fresh perspective on both the post-apocalyptic and management simulation genres. The game will be available both digitally and at retail when it launches later this month across all platforms.
