Little Nightmares III: The Spiral Awaits | October

Bandai Namco has unveiled Little Nightmares III during their dedicated franchise showcase, confirming the highly anticipated sequel will launch on 10th October 2025 across PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PC, Nintendo Switch, and the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2. Developed by Supermassive Games, this third instalment introduces new protagonists Low and Alone as they navigate the nightmarish world of the Spiral.

A Franchise Reaching New Heights

The announcement comes as the Little Nightmares franchise celebrates a remarkable milestone of 20 million units sold since the original game’s 2017 debut. This commercial success has clearly given Bandai Namco confidence to expand the series significantly, with multiple new projects revealed during the showcase.

The new trailer and gameplay deep dive focus on the Carnevale, a decrepit funfair that serves as one of the key locations within the Spiral. This twisted carnival setting promises to deliver the series’ trademark blend of childhood wonder corrupted by sinister undertones, continuing the visual and thematic legacy that has made the franchise so distinctive.

Enhanced Experiences and Multiple Editions

Alongside the main game announcement, Bandai Namco revealed Little Nightmares Enhanced Edition, bringing the original Six’s journey to modern standards with technical improvements including volumetric lighting, ray tracing, and gameplay enhancements such as better checkpoint placement and accessibility helpers.

Pre-order options range from the standard edition to the elaborate Premium Collector “Spiral Edition,” exclusive to the Bandai Namco Store. This top-tier package includes a figurine with music box base, a Nome controller/phone holder, and a double-sided coin featuring the new protagonists Low and Alone.

Digital pre-orders provide immediate early access to the Enhanced Edition on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC, while all pre-orders include the Dark Six Costumes Set. The Digital Deluxe Edition includes the “Secrets of The Spiral” expansion pass, promising two additional chapters with content featuring “a character that fans might recognise.”

Expanding Beyond Gaming

The showcase revealed that Little Nightmares is branching into other media, with comic books, podcasts, and additional projects in development. Most intriguingly, Little Nightmares VR: Altered Echoes has been announced from Iconik Studio, suggesting the franchise’s distinctive horror aesthetic could translate effectively to virtual reality.

A New Chapter in Childhood Horror

While Supermassive Games takes over development duties from original creators Tarsier Studios, the core appeal of Little Nightmares appears intact. The series’ ability to transform innocent childhood imagery into genuinely unsettling horror experiences has been its defining characteristic, and early glimpses of the Carnevale suggest this tradition continues.

With Low and Alone trapped in the Spiral—described as “a world filled with delusions”—players can expect the environmental storytelling and atmospheric horror that has made the franchise so compelling. The October release date gives fans plenty of anticipation time while the Enhanced Edition provides an immediate way to revisit Six’s original nightmare.
