The Shore: Enhanced Edition

Five years after terrorising PC players, acclaimed indie horror game The Shore is finally making its way to consoles. The Shore: Enhanced Edition will launch on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, marking a significant milestone for developer Dragonis Games as they celebrate the anniversary of their atmospheric Lovecraftian adventure.

The original game launched on PC in February 2021 and quickly earned praise for its oppressive atmosphere and deeply personal narrative steeped in cosmic horror. Created by Ares Dragonis as his studio’s debut title, The Shore follows Andrew, a desperate father searching for his missing daughter on a remote, abandoned island. Players must navigate decaying ruins and twisted landscapes as reality begins to fracture around them, with ancient gods lurking beneath the surface.

The Enhanced Edition promises to deliver a refined experience optimised for modern console hardware. Players can expect to encounter towering eldritch entities, solve environmental puzzles using mysterious artefacts, and uncover the tragic story through exploration and atmospheric storytelling. The game blends first-person exploration with Lovecraftian themes, creating what the developers describe as a constant feeling of dread through dark visuals and immersive sound design.

Through a publishing partnership with Iphigames, this console adaptation represents more than just a port. Ares Dragonis explained that bringing the Enhanced Edition to consoles is “both a celebration of that journey and an opportunity to share this nightmare with an entirely new audience.” The five-year gap has allowed the team to fully adapt their vision for console platforms whilst maintaining the core experience that resonated with horror fans worldwide.

The Shore: Enhanced Edition is launching first on PlayStation 5, with the Xbox Series X|S version scheduled to follow later in 2026. Further details about specific release dates and additional features will be announced at a later date.
