Ghetto Zombies: Graffiti Squad

A unique zombie shooter that celebrates Brazilian street culture has arrived on Xbox platforms, bringing an unconventional take on the undead apocalypse genre. Ghetto Zombies: Graffiti Squad launched on 25th February as a console exclusive for Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC, complete with Xbox Play Anywhere support that lets players switch between platforms whilst keeping their progress intact.

Developed by Fogo Games and published by Nuntius Games, the title poses an intriguing question: “What if the hood was humanity’s last hope?” Set in the fictional Vila Fundinho neighbourhood, the game’s premise centres around a zombie virus spreading through the water supply. When this Brazilian community finds itself without water on the day of the outbreak, it becomes humanity’s final refuge against the undead hordes.

The game features four distinct characters, each representing different gameplay styles and cultural archetypes. Players can choose from Kath, a balanced gymnastics leader; Vini, an agile skateboarder; Fabão, a big-hearted basketball player; or Duda, a rock-inspired attack specialist. Each character comes with unique attributes and starting weapons, promising varied strategic approaches to zombie elimination.

What sets Ghetto Zombies apart is its embrace of absurd creativity over realistic violence. The game boasts more than 70 weapons at launch, including a boxing glove pistol, shark-bite shotgun, and ketchup rifle. The zombies themselves follow equally bizarre logic, transforming into creatures with giant arms, tentacles, and other exaggerated science fiction elements designed for comedic effect. The core gameplay mechanic cleverly links street art culture with combat, as painting graffiti on walls triggers zombie hordes, with many designs inspired by real São Paulo street art.

The Xbox version has been optimised to run smoothly across all Microsoft platforms, from Xbox One to Series X|S.
