Reforj – Minecraft 3.0?

4J Studios, the Scottish developer behind Minecraft’s console versions, has opened their latest project Reforj to Xbox Insider members. The open-world sandbox builder is now available in pre-alpha, inviting more players to help shape the game’s development after nearly a year in closed testing.

Reforj offers players vast procedurally generated worlds filled with varied biomes to explore and settle. Built using 4J’s custom Elements Engine, the game focuses on creative freedom through sculpting tools and craftable décor options, allowing players to construct everything from architectural masterpieces to cosy bases. The game caters to different play styles, whether players prefer creative expression or survival gameplay.

The development approach emphasises community collaboration, with player feedback directly influencing the game’s direction. Recent additions include the Stalac, a cave-dwelling mob suggested by the community, and multiplayer functionality. 4J Studios has positioned their player community as “Foundation Pioneers,” giving them an active role in shaping the title’s future through weekly challenges and feedback sessions.

As players explore these exotic worlds, they’ll uncover secrets of a lost civilisation whilst progressing through the open-world sandbox experience. The game receives regular updates from the development team as it continues through the pre-alpha phase.
