Bandai Namco Entertainment has unveiled the story trailer and character details for Code Vein II, the sequel to 2019’s Code Vein, launching 30th January 2026 on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam. This narrative-driven action RPG introduces time manipulation mechanics as players traverse past and present versions of post-apocalyptic environments whilst preventing the Resurgence, a cataclysmic event threatening humanity’s final remnants.

Time-Based Narrative Structure
Players assume the role of the Revenant Hunter, revived by Lou MagMell, a Revenant girl who sacrifices her own heart to grant resurrection alongside time-travel abilities. This partnership forms the foundation for missions designed to rewrite history and prevent world collapse through temporal manipulation.
The narrative explores themes of fate, sacrifice, and choice across haunting post-apocalyptic landscapes including the flooded Sunken City ruins, The Undead Forest, and isolated MagMell Island. Legendary Revenant heroes including Josée Anjou, the “Queen of Solitude” who once ruled a submerged sanctuary, and Holly Asturias, the “Reaper Witch” healer, potentially hold keys to salvation.

Blood-Based Combat Systems
Code Vein II maintains the series’ distinctive blood-draining mechanics where players extract essence from enemies to unlock powerful skills. Blood codes enable strategic combat approach customisation, whilst unique weapons and equipment called Jails provide varied options for overcoming challenging adversaries and epic boss encounters.
The Partner System integrates companions deeply into gameplay mechanics rather than treating them as superficial additions, suggesting meaningful tactical considerations when selecting travel partners across vast environments.

Original Score by Go Shiina
Composer Go Shiina provides the original score, creating dramatic musical accompaniment for the story shaped by blood bonds, fate, and destiny. The soundtrack complements the narrative-driven approach whilst enhancing atmospheric tension during exploration and combat sequences.
The story trailer features new character voice performances alongside detailed world-building that expands beyond the original Code Vein’s established universe.

Deep Customisation Options
The character creation system offers extensive protagonist customisation through body type, hairstyle, facial expressions, accessories, makeup, and additional parameters. This depth accommodates player expression preferences whilst maintaining narrative cohesion through the defined Revenant Hunter role.
Additional character background details will be revealed at www.playcodevein.com as the January launch approaches.

Long-Awaited Sequel
The six-year gap since the original Code Vein suggests substantial development time invested in expanding mechanical complexity and narrative scope beyond the 2019 foundation. Pre-orders are available now across all platforms for players seeking to secure access ahead of the January 30th release.
Code Vein II targets the action RPG audience seeking narrative-driven experiences with distinctive combat mechanics when it launches early next year.
