Blind Descent – A Mysterious Martian World

Sci-fi survival game Blind Descent has unveiled its first story trailer, offering a glimpse into the mysterious underground world that awaits players beneath Mars’ surface. Developed by Pokuch and published by META Publishing, an Owlcat subsidiary, the game follows survivors of an elevator crash at a Martian excavation site as they discover something far more sinister than a simple accident.

The story begins with players searching for missing crew members after the crash, but they soon realise they’re not alone on the red planet. According to the developers, another scientific team had previously descended into the Martian depths to study a local infection, only to encounter sophisticated alien technology that blocks all communications. The team discovered artificial structures that appear to be remnants of an unknown civilisation, though their purpose remains unclear.

Perhaps most intriguingly, the Martian infections seem to affect humans differently than expected, causing mutations that allow them to form symbiotic bonds with their environment. This concept appears to be central to Blind Descent’s gameplay through what the developers call an “in-game symbiosis system”.

Players will need to craft tools, build shelter, and adapt to the reactive alien environment either solo or with up to three friends in co-operative multiplayer. The survival-craft title is set to launch in Early Access on Steam later this year, with a full release planned for both PC and console platforms in 2026.
