The classic worm warfare arrives on the next generation
Team17 in the UK is excited to announce the impending release their first PlayStation 4 and Xbox One title, Worms™ Battlegrounds.
The Sheffield born company is thrilled to see its award-winning Worms franchise appear on the next generation of consoles, having already appeared on well over twenty other platforms since its first game back in 1995.
Worms Battlegrounds will also be one of the very first titles to be self-published on the Xbox One under the [email protected] program. As Team17 is one of the ambassadors of the initiative, budding developers will be watching with a keen eye how the process progresses, as well as look to Team17 for answers on how it all works. Xbox Live Arcade was notoriously difficult to publish for, so indie developers all over the world will be eager to hear what Team 17 has to say on the matter.
As there will be no dedicated ‘indie section’ on the Xbox One developers are worried that they will need to jump through too many hoops before getting their creation online. Couple that with Microsoft’s exclusivity terms and conditions many developers may be put off.
Worms Battlegrounds is due for release in early 2014 and available for PS4 and Xbox One.
