Classic arcade fans have reason to celebrate, as Bitobit has announced the surprise release of THE NEWZEALAND STORY: Untold Adventure on Steam. This modern take on TAITO’s beloved 1988 platformer brings the adventures of Tiki the kiwi to contemporary PC players whilst maintaining the charm that made the original a cult classic.

The game follows the familiar quest of Tiki as he journeys across New Zealand’s diverse landscapes to rescue his friends and beloved Phee-Phee. Players will traverse lush forests, rugged coastlines, sea caves and mysterious labyrinths in this colourful adventure. What sets this version apart is an entirely new fifth stage inspired by New Zealand’s Kaikoura district, complete with four levels and a brand-new boss called Wormageddon.

Bitobit has updated the classic formula with modern features including a new map layout and revamped health system, though the developer promises to preserve the distinctive world and inventive level design that made the original so memorable. The game aims to honour TAITO’s original vision whilst introducing fresh elements for both returning fans and newcomers to the series.

THE NEWZEALAND STORY: Untold Adventure is available now on Steam for PC. The release represents Bitobit’s commitment to preserving classic video games and bringing retro experiences to modern platforms.
