Maseylia: Echoes of the Past Is Out Now

French indie studio Sol Brothers has launched its debut title, Maseylia: Echoes of the Past, on Steam as of 19th June 2026. The game is a hand-crafted 3D Metroidvania set in the ruins of a long-abandoned world, drawing inspiration from the visual style of artist Moebius, the exploration design of Metroid Prime, and the fluid movement mechanics of Pseudoregalia. For fans of the genre, that is quite a compelling combination of reference points.

Players explore six distinct biomes across the ruins of Maseylia, a civilisation wiped out by a catastrophic invasion. The core loop revolves around acquiring new traversal abilities that open up previously inaccessible areas, uncovering secrets, and taking on powerful guardians along the way. Sol Brothers is promising 10 to 15 hours of gameplay for those going for the main ending, with considerably more on offer for completionists who want to find every hidden upgrade and optional area the game has to offer.

Maseylia launched on Steam at €17.00, though a 20 per cent launch discount brings that down to €13.60 for the first two weeks following release. The game is available in 12 languages, which is an impressive scope for a studio of this size. Sol Brothers was founded by Victor Abresol and built the game over several years with the help of musicians, friends, and family, making Maseylia very much a passion project in the truest sense of the phrase.

The Steam release is only the beginning, it seems. Console versions for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch are currently in development in partnership with publisher Nejcraft. Physical editions for PS5 and Nintendo Switch are already available for pre-order worldwide through the Nejcraft store, though specific release dates and details on collector’s edition contents are yet to be confirmed. Sol Brothers has said more information will be shared in the coming months.
