Driftland: The Magic Revival

Polish studio Star Drifters has brought their unique fantasy strategy game Driftland: The Magic Revival to PlayStation 5 this month. The game, which combines RTS, 4X, and god game elements, has already proven popular on PC with 73% positive reviews from over 1,400 Steam players and a Metacritic score of 76/100.

Set in a world where a catastrophic war between mages has shattered continents into floating islands, players take on the role of a powerful mage capable of moving, merging, and transforming these airborne landmasses. Starting with just a single castle and small realm, the goal is to build a mighty empire across the drifting islands.

The game offers four distinct factions, each with unique characteristics that require different strategic approaches. Players set objectives for their units, which then act independently, whilst flying heroes mounted on dragons provide additional support. Success hinges on careful resource management, including gold, raw materials, and magic, alongside the innovative ability to literally reshape the game world by manipulating the floating islands themselves.

Driftland: The Magic Revival features multiple gameplay modes including a campaign and skirmishes, supported by what the developers describe as a deep magic system. The title is already available on PC and Xbox Series X|S, with Ultimate Games S.A. handling the console versions.
